Project Manager / Structured Cabling Designer

Location: Iselin, NJ / Tri-State Area (NY, CT, NJ)

Position Description:

The Project Manager/Structured Cabling Designer will be responsible for managing structured cabling projects from inception to completion while overseeing audiovisual and security scopes to ensure successful project execution. This role requires a combination of project management expertise and technical proficiency in structured cabling design.

Responsibilities:

Project Management:

  • Lead and manage low-voltage design projects, ensuring timely completion within budget and to client satisfaction.
  • Develop and maintain project plans, schedules, budgets, and milestones, tracking progress throughout the project lifecycle.
  • Coordinate with internal teams, external vendors, and subcontractors to ensure project deliverables align with requirements.
  • Proactively identify, assess, and mitigate project risks and issues.
  • Communicate regularly with stakeholders, providing status updates and addressing any concerns.
  • Serve as the primary point of contact for clients, managing expectations and ensuring exceptional customer service.

Structured Cabling Engineering:

    • Understand client requirements and objectives and translate them into actionable plans.
    • Design structured cabling solutions in accordance with industry standards and client specifications.
    • Work with CAD/Revit team to produce detailed design documentation, including system architecture, space planning, and construction drawings.
    • Collaborate with internal technology staff and vendors to integrate structured cabling systems with other building technologies.
    • Conduct field verification site visits to ensure compliance with design specifications.
    • Stay updated on emerging technologies, industry trends, and regulatory requirements related to structured cabling systems.
    • Ensure that all structured cabling installations adhere to quality standards and industry best practices.

Skills & Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Computer Science, or a related field; equivalent work experience considered.
  • Project Management certification (e.g., PMP, CAPM) preferred.
  • 2+ years** of experience in project management and structured cabling design.
  • Strong knowledge of structured cabling systems, industry standards (e.g., BICSI, NEC, EIA/TIA), and building codes.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and project management software (e.g., ClickUp, Smartsheet, Microsoft Project).
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with diverse stakeholders.
  • Proven ability to manage complex projects from initiation to completion.
  • Ability to multitask, manage resources efficiently, and adapt to evolving project requirements.
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, and attention-to-detail skills.
