PROJECT PROFILE

This 80-floor, 2.8 million sq. ft. twin-towered multi-use complex, known as the Time Warner Center, is Time Warner, Inc.’s World Headquarters. The Center includes a 244-room Mandarin Oriental Hotel, plus space for retail, entertainment, restaurants and offices. In addition, the Center includes 225 luxury apartments, live broadcast production studios for CNN, a 135,000 sq. ft. concert hall for the use of Jazz at Lincoln Center, and a 5,000 sq. ft. ballroom overlooking Central Park.

As it was designed, Time Warner houses and owns one-third of the complex, and the incorporated hotel has the “first” floor of its public areas located over 250 feet above ground, and features a luxury spa and a health club (Equinox). The hotel’s cost was estimated at $200 million. The building plot was purchased from the Metropolitan Transportation Authority (MTA) for $357 million.

The Clarient Group was responsible for the delivery and implementation of The Media Delivery System (MDS). At the Time Warner Center is a collection of multi-media screens and displays that punctuate the public space of The Shops at Columbus Circle and extend into the surrounding outdoor plaza. The screens form an ever-changing background of high- quality imagery that is seamlessly integrated into the upscale aesthetic of the complex. The content was delivered and scheduled through Mediascape Solutions, located in an on-site control room. This allows for maximum flexibility and quality control.
